Animal Sculpting Workshop with Nancy Jacobsohn
Saturday and Sunday May 13-14, 2017
9:00am to 5:00pm
Fee: $195
Always wanted to learn to sculpt animals in clay? Now is your chance! Nancy Jacobsohn is a ceramic sculptor, you can find examples of her work here: http://www.theclayhorse.com/animal-sculpture.html.
During the workshop, students will be concentrating on developing an eye for shape, line and gesture that are characteristic of their chosen animal image. Techniques for construction, surface treatment and hollowing would be demonstrated by the instructor and employed by the students to bring a piece to a point where it can be dried and eventually fired. Because of time constraints, the pieces will not be dry enough to finish. We can certainly discuss various finishing techniques as part of the workshop.
Students would need Soldate 60 clay from Aardvark (available from Mid-South Ceramics) 50 lbs., the usual variety of clay tools i.e. Cutting wire, large and small loop tools, pin tool, trash bag for covering etc.
