+ $10 clay + $20 tool kit (unless you have your own*)
Instructor: Sara Bowen
Come practice your pottery skills as you make a wheel-thrown lantern–perfect for late summer evenings outside! Spend 2 hours throwing pots in our first class, and then trim away the excess clay on the bottom in our second class. We’ll spend our third class drilling holes and decorating your lantern. We’ll skip the next week of class to let your pots dry out and fire, and on our last day of class, you’ll glaze your pots, then leave them with us to fire for the last time. Two weeks after our last class, stop by DesignByHart Pottery to pick up your new lantern and it’ll be ready for candles!
The fee for this course covers four 2-hour long sessions, meeting once per week. We will skip the week between our third and fourth class to allow our pots to dry thoroughly before firing (firing damp pots can make them explode!). This class is intended for students who have thrown on the potter’s wheel before, if only a small bit. Come build your skills with us! Never thrown on the wheel before? Try our Basic Wheel-Throwing class, offered monthly.
*Clay must be purchased from DesignByHart Pottery, though you may use clay bought from us before this class (e.g., left over from a previous class).
PLEASE NOTE: Online registration closes 2 days before the start day of the class.
